The two came with big dreams to transform this country but so little was achieved whether as a result of their appointments or their inability to copy the examples from other progressive countries.
The inability to also take decisive actions against some of their party members whether as a result of the inaction of those appointed to discharge such duties or as a result of the old adage “sacred cow’’.
The EBK regime focused on infrastructure whilst the Bio on human capital development, with the former regime witnessing Sierra Leone turned into a works yard and this witnessed the construction of many roads linking major towns and cities whilst with the human capital development, education was prioritized with the introduction of the Free quality education and the increase in school enrollment.
So, in essence, both regimes have their focus only that little was achieved, however though many resources were or are poured into such sectors. These endeavors still have little impact on the ordinary man whose life becomes difficult by the day.
This has prompted so many people to ask as to whether we will ever get it right in transforming Sierra Leone with the politicians because the one that immediately leaves is always better when compared to the incoming.
10 years of the EBK regime saw the country achieved only little in the energy sector whiles the country still stands to waste another decade grappling with the same problems in the energy sector and this government doesn’t even has energy as one of its priorities.
Whilst the former prioritized the energy sector, the present regime doesn’t, the  reason the current Minister has been exposed to so much  unwarranted criticisms from a populace that knows little or nothing the constraints the Minister is going through.
When President Bio would have left power in 2028 after the completion of his second term, he will be remembered for several things by Sierra Leoneans.
Whatever the conclusions of the Tripartite Committee, President Bio is going to complete his second term as president which is no longer in contention but only that Sierra Leone needs serious electoral reforms to save the country from another election’s fiasco.
That as a president he came in and perfected all the wrongs committed by his predecessor, former president Ernest Bai Koroma completely deviating from what most of his voters had in mind for his as president is surprising.
The sacking spree across the country cannot be compared to any other regime since independence, not talk about the reprisals that befell political opponents that have seen most fleeing the country.
Now we have started seen names coming up for the ruling party’s top position, the flagbearership which decision is going to make or break the party but from what we gather is that as Leader of the SLPP, President  Bio has a big say as to who will succeed him.
This is also another trait of his predecessor who had his favorite choice in Dr Samura Kamara even though he was an unpopular candidate and won’t win the party the presidency but was imposed on the supporters, hence the loss of the 2018 general elections.
The same is likely to happen in the SLPP with president Bio as leader of the party where he will impose a candidate on the delegates that he thinks will protect his legacy.
More candidates are going to come out for the flagbearer  position , the only reason we have not  seen some is the fear that they are going to get the  sacking should they venture as is already the case with some former Ministers who did not make the list of Cabinet Ministers in second term .
A similar tread did occur during the presidency of EBK wherein he had to part friends with some of those who  many would think were the ‘untouchables’ in the APC but he told the bold decision to relieve them and weakened their political muscles.
This practice is however typical of African politicians to choose their favorite to succeed them and is always mostly an unlikeable candidate thereby creating stumbling blocks for other candidates.
From what we  have already seen, President Bio has purged or eliminated almost all the political heavyweights within the SLPP  thereby bringing on board a new crop of politicians many would refer to as his “boys’’ but what remains clear is that these boys will see the end of their political career the day president Bio leaves power
They will have to struggle to match up with the ranks of the JOB, DR Kaikai, Alie Kabba Alpha Timbo amongst others
Many who once thought  President Bio   has  come to better their lots are now with the thinking that he can no longer achieve that and with the escalating prices of basic commodities in the country, it is just possible that the ordinary man will continue to find to difficult to survive.
