“He sexually abused me whilst on my menstrual circle ‘’

Fatmata Samura prosecution witness number 1 formerly of Brima Lane Old Road told the Court that she now resides in Tengbeh Town and she recognized the accused, Prince Osman Bangura as her friend on Facebook, (social media) since 2018.

Fatmata  said  the  accused proposed  love to her which in return she accepted and the next move was to  direct her to see his mother at Calaba Town which she did after purchasing some items and did some cooking for his mother.

The witness further said that when she visited the accused mother she noticed she was living in a deplorable condition and said she had not heard from her son for a while.

She informed the accused about her mother’s condition via whatsApp, when the  accused said he was living in a desert environment and  he requested Fatmata to send him nude pictures of her, which she did  and the accused in return sent  attractive pictures of cars and houses claiming they belong to him and after a  long conversation she asked the accused to send money but he didn’t.

She went to the accused mother and spent a week; it was during her stay that Osman’s mother disclosed that the accused has several children from different women. She decided to quit the relationship but the accused threatened to publish her naked pictures, and because of that she decided to stay.

The accused requested Fatmata to meet him in The Gambia and   must not disclose her travel plans, but she discussed with her mother without telling her the exact country after the accused Le600 as transport fare.

She was  escorted by her  younger relatives , Mohamed Samura and Salamatu Samura to  the bus station  where she bought  the  ticket at the exact amount and boarded the bus  seated quietly when she received a call from Osman Bangura asking her to allow him talk to  Salamatu, her junior sister  before they left for The  Gambia.

The bus traveled through Guinea and at that time she had a Nokia phone with her sister’s number written on paper, and she called her sister and when she arrived in The Gambia, she was received by Osman who took her to a forest full of reptiles, a cemetery like where she was raped and abandoned whilst on her menstrual circle.

In the morning, Osman was nowhere to be seen there an attempted break on the door to her room

Witness No.1 furthered that she managed to find food by picking up mangoes in the forest and boiled them to eat when the accused didn’t provide for her.

She continued that they stayed in that place for over a month before they transferred  to another place named “Mammy Sabi Compound” and the accused told her that 666 number would call her  and ordered her to answer that call and further instructed her to strip herself naked and send her pictures informing her that her name had  already been sent to the cult .

Fatmata told the Court that the 666 is a cult line people join to get rich but when that call came she didn’t answer and instead handed over the phone to Osman who also raped her in the night and inserted a cup of spray in her private part when she failed to answer the call.

She later managed to remove it when the accused took   all her belongings and sold them.

The witness said they furthered  their journey on  road  to Ghana through Senegal, Burkinafaso  and upon  arriving in  Kumasi (Ghana)  they  were lodged in  a mosque where the accused  raped forced her again and got  pregnant which she attempted to abort  but to  no avail.

She gave birth to a baby boy in 2021 and had only visited the hospital once after delivering the baby boy and after sometime, the accused asked her to sacrifice the child to become rich.

According to Fatmata Bangura, the accused didn’t take care of both the child and her but earned her living by doing domestic work and hair dressing.

The matter is being prosecuted by  AGM Bockarie, A Jalloh, AD Kargbo, ML Turay and GE Massaqui  on behalf of the state

The accused was sent to Pademba Road Correctional Centre whilst the matter comes up again on 24th September, 2024.
