It was a momentous occasion for the management of the Freetown International Airport on Friday 25th October 2025, when one of Sierra Leone’s oldest statesmen paid a visit to that facility
Dr Sama Banya, who served in various capacities during his political journey and one time Minister of Foreign Minister was led on a conducted tour to the facility by the Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority Madam Musayeroh Barrie.
The SLCAA DG said in a tweet that ‘We were honored to welcome one of Sierra Leone’s oldest and distinguished statesmen, Dr. Sama Banya to the new Lungi International Airport Terminal, his commendation inspires our continued commitment to excellence in aviation.
The conducted tour by the Octogenarian was part of preparedness by the civil aviation ahead of another busy festive season come December when airlines are expected to be busy.
It is also to boost staff morale and part of the aviation’s open policy to respect those who have contributed to society.
