Deputy Vice- Chancellor, Professor Ezekiel Lakkoh, unveiled and launched Institute of Public Administration and Management forty fifth anniversary celebrations. This event took place at the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s conference room.
Dept Registrar, Albert Bayo, said the invitation came to us purposefully to ensure that stakeholders be part of what the institution is doing. He expressively said the meeting is called to ensure that institution witnessed the transition that would come from one DVC to another, that would serve for three years. He welcomed everyone in the conference.
DVC of IPAM,Prof. Ezekiel Dramani Lakkoh said the press conference would end the inception process since he had taken over.
He added expressing the importance of IPAM being the hub for entrepreneurship and urged people who had not been fortunate to do undergraduate to come for the postgraduate programs.
DVC Lakkoh promised to create a good relationship with the media and urged the press to always checkmate his leadership activities.
He talked about the external outfit handle that could relate with the public and send questions through the channel established that could be answered by the institution.
Professor Ezekiel Dramani Lakkoh promised to improve the activities of the institution and effective functioning and relationship with the press.
He said the institution had over twenty thousand students from extramural, undergraduate and postgraduate. He said when the financial system is checked few of that number had paid their fees.
He expressed the institution financial expenses from the conduction of exams, paying for lectures and the likes.
DVC Lakkoh fostered the public confidence that the institution is not bias to stop students from graduating, but most of those students did not pay their fees would have been the cause for refusing them from graduating.
He promised to institute system that would help them conduct exams on time, publication of results on time, he said the institution fees is less than four hundred dollars and may have been one of the less in the world.
Professor Lakkoh said the institution had launched their online program on Wednesday, he said the system would help people staying out of the institution and take course in the institution. He proud that IPAM is the first institution in Sierra Leone to go online.
He promised that the institution would connect African countries in the near future.
DVC said his master’s lectures this year would go online especially the submission of assignments and promised also that after taking exams students would see their exams immediately.
Professor Merian Conteh said before she left as DVC she thought of the Forty fifth anniversary celebrations of IPAM and said to herself that would be the first work for the new DVC.
Former DVC of IPAM talked about providing of the level the institution is and the Forty fifth anniversary celebrations is an Alumni issue.
Professor Merian Conteh said on that day of the anniversary they would have a honor of raising the flag and proceeded to the Freetown City Auditorium hall and had a national consultation. She said they would have three panel and the panel would talk about rebranding, reposition and the like.
She said after the anniversary the ASA would be in the institution to fund a fiesta.
Professor Merian Conteh said they would have a health work with students and alumni of the institution.
Former DVC talked about having a soccer competition, and said they would conduct a debate competition and thanksgiving service.
Former DVC hoped for an input mostly from partners to the institution.
She poised the institution to become a leader in entrepreneurship education and urged for transformation and rebranding to meet the 21st century expectations.
CEO of A Call To Business, Mr. Kamara expressed elation for being part of the event. He added that they were there for the transformative partnership and further discussed about students leaving university without knowledge in computing.
He said access to luxury is not only about holding computer but to have the know how of using it.
Mr. Kamara reaffirmed his institution commitment to do a symbolic handing over of computers to the institution.
Mr. Kamara fostered their readiness to strengthening the ACTB’s relationship with IPAM.
CEO of A Call To Business said the the computers are given not as a luxury but as a necessity for students.
He said in his days at IPAM there had been a computer labs but there was little or no access to the lab because of the little number of computers in the lab.
CEO of A Call To Business made the symbolic handing over of the hi -tech computers to the institution.
