President Bio’s confidence in women by appointing them to positions of trust has started yielding positive dividends and one such positive result is the Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority, Musayeroh Barrie
Musayeroh Barrie served the Westminster Aviation Security Services Limited with flying colors when she was identified by President Bio for such a position where she is already putting on exemplary performance amidst the numerous challenges.
The SCLAA Director General is an administrator per excellence with a high dose of calmness in the discharge of her duties, qualities which were lacking in the country’s aviation sector for years.
That President Bio identified her  means he saw those qualities in her to transform the Aviation industry of Sierra Leone.
Appointed on 29th August 2023, President Bio saw a progressive lady with a wealth of experience in the aviation industry coupled with her solid administrative acumen and she has since lived up to expectations with the Sierra Leone’s International Airport now attracting a lot of flights
An institution of over 100 staff with only 10 or so expertise demands a lot of work for the industry to continue to project the image of the country through aviation and this is exactly what the Director has been doing working round the clock to make things happen.
Coming from an administrative background, Musayeroh Barrie has stood tall into initiating several reforms in the country’s  Aviation industry which was nothing to write home about.  Sometimes she has to trampled on toes to make things happen, but she has remained resolute as long as it is for the best interest of the country. for her, things cannot continue like this wherein the image of the is being on the news for all the wrong reasons when it comes to Aviation.
Very soon, the Ethiopian   Airlines will resume operating a 3 day in a week flight  in Sierra Leone, further lending credence to her leadership  and the greatest is still behind as the blacklist of the country’s Airport since 2008 is soon to be lifted by the International Civil Aviation Organization thereby opening the way for more flights into Sierra Leone.
A delegation from the Ethiopian has already visited Sierra Leone where they held fruitful deliberations with the DG thereby further expanding its operations in West Africa.
Members of the delegation include  Mr Henok Abebe, Ethiopian Airline Station Manager, Freetown and Anthony Yazbeckof IPC Travel – General Sales Agent Ethiopian Airlines
When this is done, the price for tickets will go down drastically as this will open the way for more flights into the country and once the competition is keen there will surely be a reduction in the prices of tickets
The Director noted that as its stands even if all the taxes a waved, the price for tickets will still be high, so the only lasting solution is to negotiate a removal of the blacklist which negotiations are at an advance stage.
