    Time for the APC to Bite the Bullet 

Sierra Leone’s main opposition political party is the All-People’s Congress (APC) which governed the country 10 years in two consecutive five years term under president Ernest Bai Koroma before power changed hands that saw the election of President Bio in 2018.

Ten years in opposition is enough for any party to plan and regain power in a democratic dispensation, the reason the call for unity is very much important at this time.

There is no gainsay in engaging in petty party squabbles when the country needs an alternative leadership that can give hope to the people and also when the lives of the people continue to be made miserable with the only hope is a vibrant opposition like the APC.

 

 

It means the APC contested the last two elections 2018 and 2023 and lost. Though the party had concerns about the outcome of the polls, came out that President Bio was declared winner in both elections.

So after the party’s disastrous performance in both elections, most level heads comprising mostly of younger folks have now decided to   be at the helm of affairs of the party by making their intentions known to contest for the top job.

“We have rallied behind the old folks over the years, now is the time for them to rally their support for us to rekindle the chances of the party for the 2028 polls.’’ One of the aspiring candidates for the party said noting that considering the political climate at the moment, it is suitable that a young candidate emerges.

The majority of the party’s support base are worried that the internal wrangling within the party might as well derailed its efforts to win the next elections, but this could be settled with a candidate that is cool hearted and be able to mend fences.

For the fact that major reforms have taken place within the party when in opposition tells that a lot can happen if all puts hand together  and by the way things are happening now the party needs to take the
