As part of moves to get Sierra Leone from the EU blacklist ,the tireless Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority,
on Monday, 28th October 2024, formally opened a training session where she also held fruitful discussions with the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority headed by Fahad Alqahtani.
The technical was among other things to provide
technical assistance to the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation which could not have come at a better time when Sierra Leone is making frantic moves to gain once more global recognition in the aviation industry.
The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority’s team lead described the engagement with the SLCAA DG as one aimed at addressing outstanding issues identified in the 2019 Aviation security audit, enhancing the overall safety and security framework within Sierra Leone’s aviation sector.
He noted that the aviation industry is a complex one but its challenges are surmountable . The reason he noted, he is in the country with a specialized team to provide such assistance to Sierra Leone.
The objectives of the technical assistance are to systematically review and improve various aspects of Aviation Security in Sierra Leone. A training Policy for equipping aviation Security personnel for both the regulatory staff and the operational Staff of the SLCAA.
SLCAA expressed gratitude to the Qatari team which he said could not have come at a better time nothing that Sierra Leone has a lot of learn from the team whilst also expressing optimism that the visiting team could as well learn during the course of the training from Sierra Leone
SLCAA DG, shared memories of the lead lead during their studies which suggests that the industry is a very closely associated one which wishing the team fruitful deliberations
