The Sales Operation of the Orange mobile network in Sierra Leone has been embroiled in what is described as internal fraud causing customers a whole lot of embarrassment.
If the network is not paying a fine to the mobile company regulatory body,it would be battling with its wobbling network service particularly in the provinces where subscribers have been complaining of the poor network by the company with no attempt to address same.
Information gathered by this medium indicate that Orange Sierra Leone has uncovered a significant case of internal fraud within its sales and distribution network, resulting in substantial revenue loss which discovery was made during what they called a ” recent internal audit” that revealed fraudulent activities allegedly carried out by employees but what action has been taken against such employees ,we were not told as at press time,.
Those subscribers who spoke to the this medium expressed fear that their transactions could no.longer be safe as the said staff had mastered the art of fraud.
What is baffling is the fact that Orange claimed to be known for its strict anti-fraud policies but over and over such discoveries have been a common place for fraudulent activities suffered by unsuspecting members of the public.Just recently ,there have been complaints by some of its subscribers of blocking their Sim Card without prior notice thereby causing a whole lot of embarrassment .

The company’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Alfie Barrie, assured that a full investigation is underway
“with focus on ensuring a thorough investigation into this matter. The individuals responsible will be held fully accountable for their actions,” Mr. Barrie stated.
He also emphasized that the situation highlights the effectiveness of the company’s internal controls and anti-fraud mechanisms.
“This incident underscores the strength of our robust internal controls and anti-fraud systems. Our commitment to ethical values and our zero-tolerance approach to fraud and corruption guide all of our actions,” he added.
In response to the findings, Orange Sierra Leone has implemented additional measures to tighten security across its sales operations, preventing further unauthorized activities.
“This situation only reinforces our determination to uphold the highest standards of integrity,” Mr. Barrie continued. “Our ethical values remain at the core of everything we do. We are confident that our proactive anti-fraud measures will continue to protect the interests of all our stakeholders moving forward.”
The telecommunications giant reassured its customers, partners, and stakeholders that it is taking the matter seriously and remains committed to ethical conduct and corporate governance.
