Fifty years old Amadu Bah a business man made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.2 in Freetown with his East End Lions vest on two count charges to wit Fradulent conversion Contrary to Section 20 (i) (iv) (b) of the Larceny Act 1916 and Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916
East End Lions is one of the leading football clubs in the country playing in the top league. According to the particulars of offence on a date unknown between 1st to 30th June 2023 at #20 Siaka Steven street the western area in Freetown Fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain amount of money that is to say six thousand united states dollars ($6,000) entrusted to him by Amadu Sallieu Jalloh for the purpose of changing same to Leones equivalent to one hundred and forty five thousand eight hundred Leones(145,800,00) to deliver same to the said Amadu Sallieu Jalloh property of the said Amadu Sallieu Jalloh Count two further stated that on the same date and place the accused person did steal by trick the sum of six thousand united states dollars ($6,000) equivalent to one hundred and forty five thousand eight hundred Leones (145,800,00) property of the said Amadu Sallieu Jalloh When the charges was read and explained to the accused person No plea taken
Assistant Superintendent of police Isatu Baba Musa lead Prosecution witness number one Amadu Sallieu Jalloh a business man he recognised the accused as his colleague doing the same business he recall on the 1st to 30th June 2023 on the above date the accused person approached him at his business place at 20 Siaka Steven street Freetown told him that he has a customer need six thousand dollars for sale to him they negotiated the price in the exchange rate by then it was 145,800 Leones he gave the accused person the six thousand dollars in the presence of Mr Unisa Jalloh who checked and confirmed the said amount and returned it back to him he gave the accused person the said amount since then the accused person didn’t get back to him he called the accused person severally on his different contact he didn’t answer his calls he sent him voice message on his WhatsApp line he read it and he didn’t reply he then reported the matter to the Criminal Investigation Department Cid headquarters Pademba Road Freetown he didn’t see the accused person for a very long time but he was later arrested in 2024 at the final of the football match between East End Lions lions and Bo rangers at approve School playing field he later made statement to the police
The accused was not represented by legal counsel he cross examined the witness .Meanwhile Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused to the male correctional facility in Freetown matter adjourned to the 26th June 2024
