A chilling new development has surfaced in Sierra Leone, as Adama Jalloh, the wife of Osman Jalloh, current National Financial Secretary of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) Party, along with her two young sons, have reportedly gone missing. Neighbors close to the Jalloh’s family claimed the disappearance follows an alarming escalation of police harassment and political persecution.
The incident unfolded on January 20, 2025, when heavily armed police officers stormed the Jalloh residence in Yams Farm, Rokel, Freetown. According to eyewitness accounts provided to this medium, the officers arrived without an arrest warrant and forcibly detained Osman Jalloh in front of his children, Sulaiman (7) and Sahid (4). The arrest was reportedly carried out with excessive force, leaving the children traumatized.
Neighbors disclosed that Adama Jalloh and her sons left the family home shortly after the raid. Rumors suggest they may have fled to neighboring Guinea to escape continued threats and harassment by state authorities. Meanwhile, Osman Jalloh has also reportedly gone missing, with unconfirmed reports alleging that he is currently in police custody.
Efforts by this medium to confirm Osman Jalloh’s status have been met with resistance. Repeated attempts to speak with him or gain access to his whereabouts have been denied by the Sierra Leone police, fueling concerns about his wellbeing and the conditions of his detention.
Neighbors who witnessed the raid recounted harrowing details of the events leading up to the family’s disappearance. One neighbor stated, “The way the police entered the house that day, it was like they were coming for hardened criminals. They didn’t care about the children or the fear they were causing.”
These accounts align with Mrs. Jalloh’s earlier claims of systematic intimidation and political persecution by the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). Prior to her disappearance, it was reported that Mrs Adama Jalloh had accused the government of targeting her family as part of a broader campaign to silence opposition voices.
“This is not just about my husband,” she previously stated. “It’s about a systematic effort to weaken the opposition and undermine democracy in Sierra Leone.”
The Jalloh family’s disappearance has sparked widespread concern among human rights organizations and political observers. Allegations of police brutality, unlawful arrests, and political repression under the SLPP government have intensified in recent years, particularly during the party’s periods of power consolidation in 2018 and 2023.
As the police reportedly continue their search for Adama Jalloh and her sons, many are questioning the broader implications of this case. Human rights advocates are calling for transparency regarding the whereabouts of Osman Jalloh and for an end to the alleged abuse of power by state authorities.
This medium remains committed to uncovering the truth and will continue to seek answers regarding the fate of the Jalloh family. Their story serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for accountability and the protection of fundamental human rights in Sierra Leone.
