Reports monitored by this medium indicate of how the life of Melvin Bai Sesay born February 1995 and his partner both being Sierra Leonean is under threat
Melvin, we gathered defied all warnings from members of the community in the Northern town of Kabala not to engage in any same sex relationship.
Information also revealed that the two who work for a Non Governmental Organization implementing a project named “Count me in Ukam4’’ based in Kabala ignited their woes when they were caught kissing each during an end of year party organized by NGO in December 28th 2022.
The same sex couple were pursued out of the township in the following morning on December 29, 2022 by an angry mob which led them to flee to the Northern headquarter town of Makeni .What we gathered was also that Pastor Samuel, a religious upon seeing them kissing shouted and notified the crowd that immediately rushed and started unleashing terror on the couple leaving them with multiple wounds all over their bodies.Reports also indicate that some members of the crowd had to come to their rescue and facilitated their escape to the northern headquarter town of Makeni but this could not save them and they were pursued again. Makeni is muslim dominated and such people are not tolerated which saw the couple facing several attacks until they finally flee to an unknown location.

Reports state that Melvin’s father including other members of his family also faced similar threats of molestation and harassment leading to the untimely death of his father.
When this press contacted some members of the community in Kabala it was reported that ever since, Melvin’s has become the subject of persistent persecution and harassment to a point that he can no longer be accepted in both his work place and community and as a result he had no option but to flee to an unknown location.
Sierra Leone is a country where the practice of Gay or same sex relationship is forbidden and the law enforcement officers have been very active in clamping down on those caught in the act.
So when the case of Melvin Bai Sesay became topical and news of it spread across the country by the media, the police wasted no time by immediately going into action and conducted a man hunt for the couple.
Similar reports of such practices in the South and other regions were also frustrated by the law enforcement bodies as members of these communities are always willing to expose these practice which is described as a Taboo
In some instances where the practiced is suspected youth groups, some community members and religious leaders will banish same sex couple from the community after any suspicion of such.
Also indefinite suspension will be slammed on any Pastor who preside over such unions or ceremony and they will go to the extent of putting out a notice for someone who celebrates or attends union.
Apologies from religious readers who blessed such a union or the cake of the wedding and ring were always not accepted
The venue were such unions are held will also be shut down and to make matters worse a task force will be set to ensure enforcement of the measures.
