Resident in the capital city of Freetown were in the early hours of Sunday 26th November 2023 woken by deafening gunshots in the Wilberforce Barracks. The news was that a group of ex-army officers had attempted to stage a Coup to topple the democratically elected government of President Julius Maada Bio. Some of the ring leaders of the attempted failed Coup being body guards to former President Koroma were gunned down by loyal forces of the government including Idrissa Kamara alias Leader Boot with others arrested whilst an unconfirmed number of government loyal forces were also killed during exchange firing .
In that vein, several persons believed to having links with the Coup were arrested whilst some fled to unknown locations. It was during this process this press discovered that the life of Makuta Turay, a resident of 50d Babadorie Hills off Spur Road in the West end of the capital Freetown  is seriously under threat following  evidenced based findings that her   former boy friend, an ex Police officer formerly attached to then President Koroma  was involved in the 26 November, 2023 failed Coup attempt. This press learnt that Makuta was in a relationship with Leather Boot and even though they had separated, they kept communicating for the past 10 years and that few days to the failed Coup, Idrissa Kamara, a former Police Officer and close Guard to former president Koroma was spotted at the residence of Makuta at Babadorie.
This press learnt that Leather Boot had just come from oversea to visit his relatives, so when the community noticed his presence in Makuta’s home, decided to report to the police station. His presence alerted some members of the community who quickly reported to the police because the Sierra Leone has placed a bounty for people who could provide vital information leading to the arrest of accomplices of the November 26 failed Coup. Some of Makuta’s neighbors were convinced that she too was deeply involved in the said failed Coup.
Idrissa Kamara, alias Leather Boot was shot dead by government loyal forces at the Murray town Barracks where this press gathered he had led a group of Coup plotters to raid the Barracks and took away the arms. Makuta Turay Born on 19th October 1985  got her predicament from her close links with Leather Boot and this warranted the Sierra Leone Police to  place a ransom on her head including other alleged accomplices for anyone providing information that will lead to  their arrests.
A neighbor of Makuta Turay who only consented to talk to this medium if he will remain unnamed said, it was no secret that Makuta did have an affair with Leather Boot as days before the Coup Leather Boot visited her residence. According to what this press gathered, the police declared her person of interest on the grounds that she has vital information that will assist them in their investigation.
This press was informed that even after Makuta  had escaped to unknown whereabouts, a truck load of combined security forces including the police and army officers conducted several raids in her residence and later arrested some of her relatives accusing them of hiding their daughter. They were detained for several days before they were put on bail.  This press tried to reach Makuta on phone whose whereabouts remained unknown, she however denied having any hands in the said coup but however admitted being a close friend of the late man.  The police have since mounted a hunt for all suspects in the said failed Coup and some arrests have been made within and outside the borders of Sierra Leone.
